Jobs & Volunteering

Beyond entering the PHIT community as a student in our training center, or achieving a spot in our company through our regular auditions, there are also opportunities to work in a small number of paid or stipend positions (house management, tech operation, the PHIT artistic team), the ability to earn credits towards free classes in our evening and weekend volunteer program at performances, and finally internships through PHIT for college students eligible to earn college credit as part of the experience of serving in various capacities in PHIT’s office and behind the scenes at shows. These opportunities are detailed below.

JOBS & KEY VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
PHIT is currently accepting submissions of for the following openings for paid employees or contractors, as well as key volunteer positions, at the theater (please read specific submission requirements for each position in their descriptions below):

  • Festival Producer – Duofest (unpaid, volunteer position)
    We are accepting applications for this volunteer position through 8/31/2017 and anticipate hiring a small number of festival producers for Duofest in 2018. To express interest in this volunteer position please email a cover letter explaining why and how you would like to help with Duofest, and resume to jobs@phillyimprovtheater.com with “Duofest Producer” in the subject line. All applicants will receive an acknowledgement that we are in receipt of their materials. Selected applicants will complete a phone or in person interview. All applicants will receive notification when the Festival Producer positions have been filled, whether they were selected for an interview or not.
  • Festival Producer – 2018 Improv Festival (unpaid, volunteer position)
    We are accepting applications for this volunteer position through 8/31/2017 and anticipate hiring 3-4 of festival producers to help us develop and launch a successor to the now defunct Philadelphia Improv Festival. To express interest in this volunteer position please email a cover letter explaining why and how you would like to help with the 2018 Improv Festival, and resume to jobs@phillyimprovtheater.com with “2018 Improv Festival Producer” in the subject line.   • House Manager (paid, part-time employee Position).
    We are accepting applications for this position on a rolling basis through 8/31/2017 and anticipate hiring a house manager to start in September.     We are accepting applications for this position through 8/31/2017 and expect to hire 1-2 instructors.     We are accepting applications for this volunteer position and interviewing on a rolling basis until this volunteer position is filled. VOLUNTEER PROGRAM (FOR TRAINING CENTER STUDENTS)
PHIT accepts applications for our volunteer program via an online application for volunteer periods that run January-March, April-June, July-September, and October-November each year. Volunteers are accepted on a rolling basis with a deadline for each session’s applications approximately two weeks before it starts.

 

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (FOR COLLEGE/GRADUATE SCHOOL STUDENTS)
PHIT’s internship program is designed for currently enrolled college or university students who are eligible to earn credit toward a degree in exchange for their efforts at our office. Full details of the program are available here.
