Zach Ward (instructor)

Chapel Hill-Carrboro native and proud Carolina graduate, Zach is the Founder and Artistic Director of DSI COMEDY THEATER and also Founder and Executive Producer of the NC COMEDY ARTS FESTIVAL. He has helped grow the CHICAGO IMPROV FESTIVAL (Associate Producer 2003-2006), RICHMOND IMPROV FESTIVAL (Producer 2008-2009) and TORONTO IMPROV FESTIVAL (Producer 2009).

Zach has received critical acclaim from the Chicago Reader and the Chicago Tribune for his performance with DUAL EXHAUST (Top 10 “Most Influential Comedy Duos of the Past Decade”) and THE BEATBOX (Critic’s Choice, Best Bet, Chicago’s “Top 5 Latenight Shows”). Zach can currently be seen performing around the country with SENIOR PGA and at the DSI COMEDY THEATER with MISTER DIPLOMAT.

Zach has studied the art of improvisation with Todd Stashwick (Burn Mahattan), Mick Napier and Susan Messing (Annoyance), Bob Dassie, Craig Cackowski and TJ Jagodowski (ImprovOlympic), Matt Besser (Upright Citizens Brigade), Amy Poehler (Saturday Night Live), Michael Gelman (Second City), and with every student he teaches. Those students have gone one to be featured on television (Jeff Richards, SNL, MADtv), the big screen (Maddy Curley, Disney’s Stick it) and comedy theaters all over the world.
