Vox Pop picks up where the spoken word leaves off. These three musical improvisers bring audiences to new heights where eagles cry on a mountain high. Where you have to say “I love you” in a song. Where regular improv simply won’t get the job done. Come see us explore the ins and outs of complex human relationships using the simple tool of music. Vox Pop will rock you.
Vox Pop is a musical improv show about relationships. Starting with an audience suggestion of a relationship, we do an antire show in song – not one word of spoken dialogue – that explores the various angles, nuances, and ups & downs of the given relationship.
Karen Lange & Jordan Hirsch were both founding members of Washington DC’s beloved musical improv troupe iMusical, where they honed the skills they now bring to Vox Pop. Individually and together, they’ve performed to standing ovations and roaring crowds at the Del Close Marathon, the Chicago Improv Festival, the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival (formerly the Dirty South Improv Festival), the Philadelphia Improv Festival, the Baltimore Improv Festival, and the DC Comedy Festival. In 2010, Vox Pop teamed up with acclaimed New York musical improv accompanist Jaime Hazan to take their show to the next level.
