The Philly Improv Theater (PHIT Comedy) is pleased to announce auditions for performers for a regularly occurring, 45- to 50-minute improvised show that will be done in the style of Shakespeare. Auditions will be held on Saturday, September 23rd, 2017 between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. This production will be directed by Steve Kleinedler, who directed The Robert Cycle in 2005 for ImprovBoston and the recent PHIT conservatory class production The Fifth Folio. This show is part of the growing roster of special productions at PHIT featuring professional ensembles cast and managed by the theater. We hope to see you there!
REHEARSAL AND SHOW SCHEDULE
Rehearsals will be held weekly on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 beginning October 3 at PHIT. Beginning in December, rehearsals will be held twice a month. The show will debut on Friday, November 10 and will play on the 2nd and 4th Fridays at 7:00 through February 2018. There is a a potential for the show to extend beyond February 2018 though this is not guaranteed. You must be available (1) on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 on 10/3, 10/10, 10/17, 10/24, 10/31, 11/7, 11/14, 11/21, 11/28, 12/5, and 12/19 and twice a month in 2018 and (2) on the 2nd and 4th Friday evenings from 6:30-8:00 beginning in November. On your audition form you will state that you are free those evenings or enumerate up front which evenings you would not be able to make.
AUDITION DATE AND TIME
Auditions will take place on Saturday September 23, 2017, between 11 am and 4:00 pm. There will not be callbacks.
Auditions will be held at Philly Improv Theater @ The Adrienne Theatre, 2030 Sansom Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103. Auditions will be held on the PHIT Main Stage on the first floor.
Auditioners must have completed PHIT’s improv curriculum, be currently enrolled in Improv 401 at the time of the audition, or have the approval of the Artistic Director. Auditioners must be available for the audition times to be considered. No other audition times are available. If you do not meet the prerequisite, please fill out the form and follow-up with an email to Mike Marbach at email@example.com to explain why you feel an exception should be made.
Women, people of color, people with disabilities, people over 40, and people who identify as LGBTQ are strongly encouraged to audition. Director and practice space are provided by PHIT for this show. There is a potential for payment. That payment is based on show box office sales and is not guaranteed.

All specific audition times are first-come-first-served. There are no alternate times. If you are not available for these audition dates and times, please do not email or call to ask for an exception – you simply will not be able to audition. If you are interested in auditioning, you must sign-up for one of our announced time slots. A reminder email with a bit more info will be sent the day before auditions.
