It’s hard to believe I’m saying this already, but classes for the first session of 2015 are now online and ready to enroll! Every current core class from Improv 101 – 401 and Sketch 101 – 201 is on the menu. In addition to these great core classes we will be announcing new classes as the year draws to an end that include more workshops and electives that both compliment and supplement our training program. This includes more classes in musical improv, acting, and even more areas to help make you the most well rounded performer you can be. Stay tuned for more information on all of those!
Even though we are talking about 2015, let me also say there is lots of life still left in 2014! Rounding out the year are a couple great workshops from out of town guests like “Yes And For Experts” with Elana Fishbein and “Welcome to the Writers Room” with Christine Nangle. Through a new program at PHIT we’re also offering more workshops from our awesome local instructors and performers. The idea here is to expose our students and performers to the many different strengths and philosophies the Philly comedy community has. The first being offered is the now SOLD OUT Grotesque Characters Workshop with Tara Demmy. We’ll also be offering a new Free Intro to Sketch Writing class which will be taught by Flat Earth’s Matthew Schmid! The first of these will be offered before the end of the year and we’ll be scheduling them on a regular basis thereafter.
In other Training Center news I’d like to officially welcome our new Class Registrar – David Donnella! You probably know David from PHIT House Team The Future and his several Dynamite Series Shows including Study Hall, Page One and Dirty Laundry. In addition to being a really talented performer, he’s also one of the friendliest people you’ll meet and has enough energy to power the world in the event of a global power outage, which may or may not be caused by a sun storm. David will be your go-to guy for all class questions and can be reached at classes@phillyimprovtheater.
This year has been an amazing year for PHIT. It was our first full year for the training center’s sessions system and just like our crowds, our enrollment grew session over session. People recognize PHIT as a place to have fun, make friends, and learn to make other laughs – all on their way to becoming the future stars of our stage. Our Training Center is recognized across the country as consistently turning out amazing performers and that’s at least in part because we have amazing students. So on behalf of everyone at the Training Center – THANK YOU!
See you around the theater,
