2013 FRINGE Spotlight: Page One

Fringe2013Page4x6FrontAs part of the Philadelpahia Fringe Festival, the Philly Improv Theater (PHIT) presents Page One, a series of four improvised full-length plays. Four local playwrights will submit outlines for an original play. PHIT house team Mayor Karen takes it from there, creating funny, wistful, and engaging theater based on the playwright’s thoughts and ideas. Each performance is a never-before-seen production — it’s new even to the playwright!

PHIT director Steve Kleinedler and the cast of Mayor Karen is excited about this production, because “Page One is unlike anything PHIT has done and it’s unlike Philadelphia audiences have ever seen. The Philadelphia area has a great deal of talent, and we’re proud to provide another venue for their works.”

Even though though the story will be improvised, each show will have the flavor of the playwright who inspired the piece. Page One is based on a concept developed by Will Luera during his long tenure as Artistic Director of ImprovBoston.

Page One runs through the following dates:

Thursday September 5 – 7:00 pm
Friday September 6 – 7:00 pm
Saturday September 7 – 7:00 pm
Sunday September 8 – 7:00 pm

The Adrienne Mainstage, 2030 Sansom Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103
